Jewelers For Children Grant Kapolei Boys Wish to Celebrate Decade

Reader Submitted Make-A-Wish Foundation partner, Jewelers for Children, will hold its inaugural Children’s Day, May 31, to celebrate the children who benefit from its
members’ charitable efforts by granting the special wish of a five-year-old Kapolei boy, Ho’ola’i “Paliku” Winchester. Paliku is fighting pre-B cell lymphoma and loves Orca whales, so when volunteers asked him what his number one wish would be, Paliku said he wanted to go to Sea World. Through a grant to Make-A-Wish, Hawaii, from Jewelers For Children, Paliku and his family will leave for San Diego, Tuesday, June 2. “I express my great appreciation to and pride in all the Hawaii jewelers and their customers who contribute to Jewelers For Children and make this grant possible,” said Bruce Bucky, Hawaii Jewelers Association President. Paliku will be traveling to San Diego with his parents, Kanoe and Rena Winchester, and brothers, Pakai’olena, 11, and Waipehe, 2. “Jewelers for Children and its members have made it possible for us to bring hope, strength, joy and aloha to wish kids like Paliku” said Lyn Brown, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish, Hawaii. “Their support during the past 10 years has made a significant difference in the lives of the courageous kids we serve.” Children’s Day will coincide with the JFC Facets of Hope celebration in Las Vegas during the JCK Show, which is the jewelry industry’s premier buying event.
