The Bishop of Worcester is preparing to crawl up to the top of the Malvern Hills as part of a fundraising event.
The Rt Rev John Inge will help lead the crawl up the Worcestershire Beacon on Sunday 6 September. Organiser Trevor Marston said the event followed a local legend where a monk crawled up the hill every day for 10 years as a penance. The crawl is in aid of the Noah’s Ark charity and West Malvern’s St James C of E Primary School Building Fund. Mr Marston, who is landlord of the Brewers Arms, in West Malvern, added participants hoped to raise a lot of money for the school which had to raise 10% or its £600,000 rebuilding costs.
Money raised will also go towards the Noah’s Ark Trust which supports bereaved children and their families in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
