Jessica Thompson And now the 73-year-old Frank Humphry engine could be destined for a museum unless a group of friends can be set up
to take care of it. The steering wheel fiasco, which happened over the last bank holiday weekend, was recalled at a meeting of Crowborough Town Council’s communications and events committee. Cllr George Moss told how the steering wheel fell off as he drove to another adoring crowd. He had been taking Frank to the May Day Charity Fete at the Poundfield Halls but he never made it to the event as the engine broke down on the A26. As a result of the disaster, Cllr Moss is appealing for residents to join a new Friends of Frank Humphry Society to look after and provide it with storage locally. He came up with the idea with friend Andrew Camsell who has expressed an interest in the project.
Cllr Moss said: “It’s such a good resource for the town and when we can actually get it to an event the children and adults love it.
