Students at Allan Drive Middle School in Bolton will showcase their musical talent at a concert to raise funds for a school building project
May 29. The event will feature more than 35 Allan Drive students and staff performing a variety of cover songs. The talent featured in this year’s event promises to be astounding. Funds collected will support Allan Drive’s goal to raise $5,000 for Free the Children. This charity, founded by child labour activist Craig Keilburger, has built schools in developing countries around the world. Over the last three years, Allan Drive’s charity rock concerts have raised $10,000. “These young people rock and this year’s show will be fabulous,” commented music teacher and concert coordinator Chris Den Haan. “We’re very excited to invite the community to our school for this special evening of music and awareness. Nowhere else in the Peel Board will you find a rock show on this scale. But more importantly, is the opportunity we have to help other young people who are far less fortunate.” Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased by calling the school at (905) 857- 9144, ext. 144, or at the event. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a day concert for students, starting at 12:30 p.m. Students will also have an opportunity to buy raffle tickets for an electric guitar donated by Bolton’s MUSIC 21 and other prizes as well.
