Field-to-Fork Wild Gnocchi Masterclass: From Fresh Picks to Tasty Plates

Enjoy a delicious experience while supporting a meaningful cause.

You’ve probably heard of farm-to-table dining, where restaurants source ingredients directly from local farms and ranches without the middlemen. But have you heard of field-to-fork? If you haven’t and you live around Kirknewton, Scotland, you’re in luck as Cyrenians brings you its very first Field-to-Fork Wild Gnocchi Masterclass. Happening on September 5, get ready to roll up your sleeves, harvest fresh produce, and turn them into delicious plates like vegetable gnocchi and vibrant antipasti. Proceeds raised from this mouthwatering event will support Cyrenians’ public health approach to homelessness prevention.

Join us for our first Field-to-Fork cooking class: harvesting fresh ingredients grown at our Cyrenians Green Space Centre to create a fresh and vibrant Italian Meal. We’re joined by qualified chef and Slow Food Edinburgh Chair, Lucia Ortisi to share her expertise in the kitchen, highlighting traditional Italian techniques, the importance of seasonality, and the cultural heritage behind each dish. This event is taking place on Saturday 5th of September from 10.30-2pm at our Cyrenians Green Space Centre.

The day will begin with a tour of our Green Space Centre and growing spaces from our Market Garden Coordinator Andie Richard, giving you a hands-on opportunity to pick your ingredients for the class. Guided by the principles of simple, rustic Italian cooking, the class will then focus on transforming these natural ingredients into flavourful dishes.

The word “gnocchi” in Italian means “lumps” or “knuckles.” These soft, pillowy dumplings are usually made with potatoes, flour, and cheese. Learn how to make this delicious dish at Cyrenians’ Field-to-Fork Wild Gnocchi Masterclass on September 5. Register now for a class that will definitely gnocchi your socks off!
