15TH ANNUAL BUDDHAS DAY & MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL

Hosted by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and Buddhas Light International Association of Victoria (BLIA VIC) 2010 is the 15th year of the annual Buddhas Day and Multicultural Festival at Federation Square.
The Buddha’s Day and Multicultural Festival is an opportunity for Buddhist Melburnians to meet and celebrate, as well as share their message – through ceremony, music and art

Celebrating the birth day of Prince Siddhartha Gautama (or Sakyamuni Buddha the founder of Buddhism) and Melbournes diverse multicultural communities, the festival is hosted by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and the Buddhas Light International Association of Victoria (BLIA VIC).
If previous festivals are anything to go by, the 15th Buddhas Day and Multicultural Festival will be a peaceful, en masse celebration (last years festival saw 85,000 visitors through Fed Square), centered on a true visionary and spiritual leader in Prince Siddhartha Gautama.
Running over two days, the 2010, 15th annual Buddhas Day and Multicultural Festival promises an open and warm atmosphere fostered by the experience and celebration of Humanistic Buddhism living the life of Buddha in a modern age.
Festival highlights include daily Buddhist Ceremonies Bathing the Buddha the third annual Sacred Songs Multi-Faith Concert and Vegi-licious: The Karma of Being Vegetarian cooking demonstrations.
The 2010 Buddhas Day & Multicultural Festival is an environmentally conscious event good, clean fun if you please.
With sustainable and compostable catering, grey water at Federation Square, an ethos of reuse and recycle and the fact all festival consumables are delivered collectively, the Festival treads a small ecological footprint.
