Cancer is one of the leading causes of death, just after heart disease. Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, and it is especially common among women. In fact, nearly 13% of women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. Living with cancer is difficult and painful due to its physical effects along with the uncertainty of life expectancy. A diagnosis is often unexpected and will affect every aspect of someone’s life. Along with the physical and emotional difficulties, the medical treatments for cancer can be expensive, which is especially a burden on those who are already struggling financially.
Luckily, there are organizations working to provide financial help as well as other forms of support for cancer patients. Pink Divas and Gents is one organization which helps those affected by breast cancer. In June, they are holding their annual 5k Breast Cancer Walk and Run, which will raise funds to help them continue to provide support for people affected by breast cancer.
We are growing and increasing our footprint. Every year we select a different location for this event. Thanks to the support of Mayor Robert Lovero, on Saturday, June 24, 2023, we will be walking in the town of Berwyn. It is because of supporters like you that we have had 5 successful years with the Breast Cancer Walk Run. Woohoo! We are so excited about this event and being able to interact with one another, raise awareness, educate, empower, and support those affected by this disease.
We want as many individuals as possible and teams to participate and support this cause. This event is essential in helping us reach our goals, continuing partnership with hospitals/clinics and other organizations, and continuing to provide financial support to those affected by this disease. Pink Divas & Gents has been influential and dedicated in serving as a catalyst in educating and supporting families, underserved women/men in the Chicagoland area and surrounding communities.
Public and private organizations, including schools, churches, businesses, sororities, fraternities, and families are all invited to walk/run in support of this initiative.
