Do you love running? On September 21, lace up your running shoes and join a race like no other! Happening at Fort McMurray Heritage Village, Canada, the Northern Lights Health Foundation will be having their 7th Annual Hospital Bed Races! Along with three of your friends, family members, or co-workers, dress up in matching pajamas, ugly sweaters, or dinosaur costumes, and push a hospital bed with a 150 pound ‘sandbag bedbug’ on it. The fastest team will be awarded the Hospital Bed Races Golden Bedpan Trophy. There will also be other prizes, such as Team Spirit and Most Funds Raised Team, that will be given out after the event to keep everyone’s spirits up. Most exciting part of this race is that funds raised will go to ensuring that the Northern Lights Health Foundation will reach its vision which is, “Strong, healthy communities. Together.”

Welcome to the Northern Lights Health Foundation’s 7th Annual Hospital Bed Races, presented by Birch Mountain Enterprises LP!

The event takes place in the upper parking lot of Heritage Village, on September 21, 2024. Teams comprised of 4 members; 4 pushing the bed with a 150 pound ‘sandbag bedbug’ on it, will race 50 meter sprints to the finish line while dressed in themed costumes and/or corporate gear. Races are executed in randomly drawn head-to-head heats. All teams are guaranteed two races with the fastest teams advancing. The beds and bedbugs are supplied.  It isn’t all about the speed. We RACE for FUN and RAISE for HEALTH. In addition to the fastest team, prizes will be awarded for Team Spirit, Most Funds Raised Individual and Most Funds Raised Team. All teams must raise a minimum of $2,000.
