Allianz Initiates Disaster Response Plan 2009: Financial Response

Allianz initiates disaster response plan

The FINANCIAL — In response to the Victorian bushfire disaster Allianz Australia initiated its ‘Event Response Plan’ to assist customers and made emergency payments
to affected customers. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by this unprecedented tragedy, in particular, our customers, employees, and their families. Allianz is applying all necessary resources to provide assistance as quickly as possible to our customers and business partners,” Nicholas Scofield, General Manager Corporate Affairs at Allianz Australia, said. “The continuing influx of claims being received suggests our initial prediction that total industry insured damage would reach half a billion dollars will easily be eclipsed. As many people have still not been able to get access to their properties, it is difficult to estimate what the ultimate value of insured damage will be.” In response to one of Australia’s worst natural disasters in terms of loss of life, which could ultimately number around 300, Allianz Australia mobilized its resources nationally to assist customers impacted by the enormous tragedy: Event Response Plan Allianz Australia established a dedicated Event Team in its Victorian Claims Unit to deal exclusively with affected customers. Â Allianz is working together with its loss adjusting partners, Crawfords and GAB Robins, to ensure priority service for affected customers. Â Allianz is fast tracking emergency payments where required to assist customers through the initial period when they may need money for food and clothing etc. Â Allianz has dedicated staff available to assist customers with queries and claims lodgement at a number of the emergency relief centres that have been established to assist the estimated 7000 people made homeless by the disaster. Emergency payments to affected customers
“Allianz is committed to assisting our customers recover as best as can be expected from the bushfires,” Nicholas Scofield added.
