Angelina Jolie, on a charity visit to Thailand, has urged the Thai government to give Myanmar refugees in northern Thailand better conditions.
The UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador spent time this week listening to the stories and struggles of refugees living in closed camps.
‘I was saddened to meet a 21-year-old woman who was born in a refugee camp, who has never even been out of the camp and is now raising her own child in a camp,’ Jolie said.
111 000 registered refugees live in and are restricted to nine camps in northern Thailand.
On her charity visit Angelina Jolie said she hoped to work with the Thai government to change conditions for the refugees.
