Hello&hellipJust an FYI &ndash almost lost my husband of 40-plus years last week! An angle iron fell from the Tobin Bridge, landed on the
front of his car, bounced onto the windshield near his face, then up onto the rooftop! Perhaps we should consider changing the nursery rhyme from “London Bridge is Falling Down”&hellipto “The Tobin Bridge is Falling Down.”Kidding aside though, it could have caused a serious accident therefore, I’m duty-bound to say BEWARE as you travel under Boston’s Tobin Bridge! The Plymouth South High School gymnasium was jam-packed with tearful faces as students and staff sat mesmerized during Rachel’s Challenge (a presentation about Rachel Joy Scott &ndash first student to die in the Columbine massacre). An evening program was also held at Plymouth North High School. In her essay My Ethics, My Codes of Life Rachel said, “I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same.” These words are the foundation upon which the national campaign has been built, and through the program her family believes they carry out Rachel’s message&hellip “cultivating an atmosphere, a climate and a culture where everyone’s accepted.” (Darrell Scott, Rachel’s dad) Rachel’s Challenge is all about “decreasing school violence, bullying and social isolation,” as well as “eliminating prejudice.” It is about creating a safe school environment and making positive changes that have lasting impact. It is about “inspiring students to feel that they are an important part of their school community.” One student from Plymouth South was so-inspired to write this beautiful poem: In Memory of Rachel Joy Scott PSHS Principal Patricia Connors worked valiantly in order to obtain the program for her students. She felt it would make a tremendous impact on the entire PSHS community and said this goal was achieved.
Music pounded, emotion and excitement was everywhere, as the ladies geared up for a fun evening at Passion for Fashion &ndash the Jordan Hospital fundraiser for cancer. The well-attended “girls-only” event took place at Indian Pond Country Club last week and judging from what I observed&hellipexceeded expectation!
