Asylum Seeker Transport Charity Night

Asylum Seeker Transport Charity Night

Transport is a charity night being held to benefit Asylum Seekers through the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre.
It will be a huge night of entertainment hosting cabaret, comedy, art, performance, puppetry and music, all to support asylum seekers and refugees get around on the met once they’re in Melbourne.
All you have to do to buy your way in to the event eveningis buy an un-validated met card to donate for door entry. Met cards will be available to buy at the door, or you can pre-purchase one in advance.
The cards will be given to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre for use by their patrons.
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre is Australia’s leading asylum seeker organisation providing aid, health and advocacy services and care for more than 3 000 asylum seekers in Australia, through a team of 700 volunteers. Nearly all funding (94%) is received by donation and philanthropy. Donations over $2 are tax deductible, and just 10 bucks will feed one family for a week.
They provided a little over $14 million worth of help in 2006, to people seeking asylum.
If this is a cause that you believe in then it’s really not that hard to help. Go and be part of the entertainment and have fun, all for just the cost of a met ticket.
The Asylum Seekers Resource Centre charity night, Transport, is on 6 pm, July 10 at Loop (23 Meyers Place, Melbourne).
