The Australian Altruism Foundation’s Australian Humanitarian Awards are an especially important part of our culture because they provide positive role models, exemplify positive attributes of human nature, promote success and achievement through social concern and inspire people to embrace compassion, service, equity and friendship – the values of humanitarianism.
The Australian Altruism Foundation, through the presentation of these awards, aims to change the stereotypical view that humanitarianism is reserved to the fields of health care professionals, volunteers, carers or charities.
Humanitarianism is an attribute that anyone can adopt and display in everyday contact with others.
Categories are looked at by independent judges and awards are given in the areas of Arts, Entertainment and Media, Charity, Education, Environment and Health.
Judges and presenters of past awards have included the Australian Altruism Foundation’s patron Patch Adams, the late Peter Brock, Rod Quantock, Denise Drysdale and Tim Costello.
The Australian Humanitarian Awards presentation event will be held on the evening of Thursday May 3rd 2007 in Melbourne. The presentation event will be to award all those who received accolades for their humanitarian work in 2006.
