The babies were from the Isithembiso Home for Abandoned Babies, which stands to receive about R100 000 from a charity event held in the
Victoria Park High School hall. World-class food and celebrity entertainment were highlights of the local event, which had to be moved from a marquee in Victoria Park to the school hall due to strong winds. The more than 200 guests – among them Miss SA Tatum Keshwar – were entertained by Idols 2007 finalist Munro du Toit, South Africa‘s legendary pop singer PJ Powers, local group Chapter 3 and Peter Moss. The three-course meal was prepared by world-class chefs Martin Kobald and David Keir.
