Bert Newton has been awarded the honor of Victorian of the Year for 2008.
The likeable media personality, soon to celebrate his 70th, received the accolade for his extensive charity work with organisations including the Gawler Foundation, Diabetes, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Sir Edward Dunlop Medical Research Foundation.
The Young Victorian of the Year award went to Daniel Adams, who played a huge part ion organising the 2005 Make Poverty History campaign concert.
Bert Newton accepted the Victorian of the Year award yesterday at the Melbourne Town Hall.
