Blantyre Man Darrens 24hour Cycle Spin Raises Cash For Charity 2009: Blantyre Man

Blantyre man Darrens 24hour cycle spin raises cash for charity

A BLANTYRE man has cycled for 24 hours to raise cash for charity.
Darren Doak, manager of Fitness First, got on his bike and completed an all day spin cycle for the British Heart Foundation. The former Blantyre High pupil took part in the gruelling event at the gym where he works in East Kilbride. He wasn’t short of support as family, friends and gym members turned out to cheer him on. The 34-year-old is grateful for the support of wife Paula and even their pet dog Cody who stayed with Darren (34) throughout the night to keep him company. Paula even took over the pedalling to let her husband off for comfort breaks throughout the marathon cycle. So far, the charity event has raised an impressive &pound700, but the money continues to roll in and Darren is hoping to reach the grand total of &pound1000.
Darren said: “The British Heart Foundation is a nationally recognised charity and I think everyone pretty much knows somebody that has some form of problem with their heart.
