Brave Billie inspires charity day

A brave little girl from Bath is preparing for the moment her parents feared they’d never see – her first day at mainstream school.
And the way in which Billie Bellis has battled against the odds after contracting meningitis has inspired a fundraising day. The four-year-old was struck down with the disease when she was 18 months old and has been left with lasting disabilities The youngster spent time in the Royal United Hospital, before being transferred to the Bristol Children Hospital, where she fought for her life. Now she has defied the doctors’ expectations, and will be attending Southdown Infant School when the new term starts next week. Billie, who lives in Whiteway with her parents started to look unwell one Friday afternoon. Mum Leeanne, aged 32, and dad Jason, 37, were concerned, and took her to their GP.
They were told that she had a stomach infection, and prescribed some medication to help.
