WEARING something akin to a male Playboy outfit, 22-year-old builder Andy Lofkin bends over one of the female guests and politely asks if she
would like a canape. Wearing only boxer shorts, a skimpy pinny, a bow tie and cuffs, it’s only the trademark bunny ears that are missing. “If that’s what you thought of the costume, imagine my reaction,” laughs Andy. “When I first saw what I’d be wearing, I said, ‘Oh my God! Are you being serious’ Then I just began giggling.” But Rachel Anchors, a 37-year-old married mother-of-two and founder of Wait On Me Ltd, was serious. So Andy donned his uniform for the first time for a charity event last October. Since then, neither Andy, who can earn up to £60 for three or four hours of work a night, nor Rachel, whose business emerged off the back of the event’s success, have looked back.
“I’m a happy-go-lucky person anyway, so I would do anything for a laugh,” chuckles Andy, who completed a national diploma in Sports Science at South Cheshire College and has since trained as a builder.
