Want to schmooze and eat carne asada soft tacos with Los Angeles Dodger Andre Ethier You’ll have a chance this weekend when he hosts
Carne Asada Sunday at Dodger Stadium on the loge terrace level patio. “I love carne asada (a grilled Mexican dish of spicy, marinated steak strips or pieces),” says the starting outfielder, who joined the Dodgers as a rookie in 2006. “I’m excited about Carne Asada Sunday. It’s a great opportunity to meet and interact with the fans in a different environment than the field,” says the Phoenix native. “Carne asada was usually cooked and served at my aunt’s house in Phoenix. It was a big weekend thing,” Ethier says. Grilled flank steak was thrown and eaten on a flour tortilla in small pieces. “I grew up eating good food,” adds Ethier, noting that among the items his mother cooked were tacos, burritos, meat loaf, pot roast, baked potatoes and green beans. A year ago he started a blog, “Dining With ‘Dre” at http:// diningwithdre.mlblogs.com, sharing dining spots he likes. Readers, mostly fans, give him feedback, often suggesting places to try. He plans to include a couple of his “We go to 14 cities during the summer. I try to stick to ethnic places – unnoticeable, small restaurants.” The same goes while he’s playing in Los Angeles, says the West Hollywood resident.
While he loves Mexican food, he has yet to find a place in the Los Angeles area that he likes.
