Chief Richard Stillman and police chiefs from around the state will meet along the historic Boston Marathon course on Sept.
13, not to try and break the four-hour mark, but to walk in honor of a comrade. Southborough Police Chief William “Billy” Webber died of pancreatic cancer last November. The 53-year-old Webber was a Milford native who’d served in Southborough since 1980. This is the first Jimmy Fund Walk since his death, and Webber would have participated, his wife, Kathy, has said. “He was a real gentlemen, a really great guy,” Stillman said of Webber. Kathy Webber and their two children, Kevin Webber and Kathleen Barry, will be walking as a part of Team Police Chiefs. The walk is open to everyone. The Jimmy Fund has been the official charity of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police since 1953. Chiefs, according to the foundation, have raised over $100,000 over the past two decades.
“A lot of chiefs were walking before me, and a lot of chiefs will walk after me,” said team co-captain John Creighton, Uxbridge’s retired chief.
