Coach Puts In The Hours For Charity 2009: Champagne Tennis

Coach puts in the hours for charity

CHAMPAGNE TENNIS: Andy Wheeler is drenched with champagne after his 30-hour coaching stint – a charity bid in which he had 60 tennis clients.
Exhausted resident tennis coach Andy Wheeler is hoping to register a quirky new world record after a 30hour marathon coaching effort. Mr Wheeler, who began the longest coaching stint of his career at 7am on Saturday, put 60 clients through their paces at Thorndon Tennis Club before heading home for a well-deserved rest yesterday afternoon. The event was held to raise funds for the Cancer Society. Mr Wheeler’s mother died of cancer when he was a teenager. Central Tennis’s regional development manager Charles Cordwell gave Mr Wheeler a surprise wake-up call when he doused him in champagne at the end of his effort.
