A LOCAL coffee shop manager caused a stir by cycling from Grimsby to Scunthorpe to raise cash for charity.
Joanne Jennings, manager of Grimsby’s Costa Coffee store in Freshney Place set off on the 32 mile ride with her husband James, to raise money for children in Guatemala. And the pair managed to raise nearly £500 for charity, which will be used to help to build schools for eight hundred children in the Central American country. Joanne said: “Lots of people didn’t expect me to be able to do it, but I was driven on by thinking about the children we’re trying to help. “My children have everything that goes with being lucky enough to be born in the UK, but others aren’t so fortunate. I’m doing this for those children we have to show that we care, because it’s a cruel world, and by taking part in fund-raising like this we can do something to redress the balance.” Charity efforts
