Cotton Hooks In School 2009: Hook Macintyre

Cotton hooks in school

There may even be a hook or two.
The Macintyre Valley Charity Golf Day is on May 20. Funds raised by the event over the past seven years have injected more than $35,000 towards the Goondiwindi State High School Student Bursary. The Bursary was created by the cotton industry in consultation with then Principal Alan Smith and funded mainly by the local councils, the cotton industry and the high school P&C. The Bursary has supported seven Goondiwindi students through university studies in pursuits ranging from engineering to teaching to agronomy. “The playing card is starting to fill up so anyone interested should get in quick,” Phil said. People can register to play by contacting Phil Sloan on 07 46710 222 or the Goondiwindi Golf Club.
“Already we’ve had a lot of generous offers of support, which is great,” David said.
