CP Center Benefits From Green Bay Marathon 2009: Marathon Weekend

CP Center Benefits from Green Bay Marathon

Marathon weekend is here.
The tenth annual Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is Sunday morning. Proceeds from the event benefit three local charities, and this year a new non-profit is on board. Clients at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Allouez are hard at work printing names on jerseys for local soccer teams. “This is the first one and I'm just finished with it,” Dale Metoxen Jr., a CP Center client, showed us. These clients are just a few of the people who will benefit from the CP Center being a new marathon charity partner this year. “It gives the staff here at the CP Center an opportunity to give back to the community who supports them so well throughout the year, so it's a great opportunity for us,” CP Center service coordinator Kay Samson says. More than 250 volunteers, including staff, families and CP board of directors members, will line the course race morning.
Amy Hoyer, another service coordinator, is one of the corner guards, but volunteering is about much more than just controlling traffic.
