WORLD Youth Day organisers may have brushed him for the role of Jesus, but Manly winger Dave “Wolfman” Williams is finally set to make
his acting debut . in a musical. Williams has been cast as Johnny Casino in Grease On The Beach, a Northern Beaches production of the 1970s hit starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Wolfie’s character is an all-American rocker from Rydell High who spends his days playing guitar, chasing skirt and generally staying cooler than a Kelvinator. “But I won’t be drawing too much inspiration from the original movie – I’ve never seen it,” Williams laughed. “It’s not exactly a big role. “But I get to play my guitar, which is great . . you could say I love music more than musicals.” POOR old Bryan Fletcher can’t take a trick. First, wife Britt banned the Kangaroo retiree from playing in the 2009 Illawarra competition, now she’s organised a romantic getaway on the same weekend he and Simon Woolford were to make a guest appearance for the Hay Magpies. The annual charity match is a huge event, with previous invitees including Gary Belcher, Darren Smith and David Furner. But has anyone told “Germ” Woolford how Belcher broke his knuckle in the opening tackle two years ago “No, not until now,” the retired Raider laughs. “But that’s OK . . . I just won’t make one.”
