Cyclone Haiyan Strikes In The Phillipines

How you can help people in the Phillipines affected by Cyclone Haiyan?

On the 8th November at 4.50a.m. the largest known tropical cyclone known as Haiyan, locally as Yolanda, struck on Guinan, Samer Island, Phillipines. The winds were moving at 235 kilometres an hour and the gusts at 275 kilometres.

Cyclone Haiyan was preceded by another twenty two tropical cyclones in the Phillipines in 2013. In addition on October 15, in Bohol there was a severe earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale.

The resources of the Phillipines Government and the Phillipines population have been severely tested. Reports are saying the preparation by the Government and it’s agencies has saved many lives. Many of the world’s Aid organisations are now either on the ground or heading to the Phillipines to offer further much needed assistance.

Urgent help is needed with housing, sanitation, clean water, toilets, children’s support. Please respond to these organisations and the many others assisting in the recovery efforts.
