Deadline Approaches For PostStandard Amateur 2009: 11 Deadline

Deadline approaches for PostStandard Amateur

The May 11 deadline is fast approaching to enter the 53rd Post-Standard Amateur.
The golf tournament, one of three annual major events for male amateurs in the Greater Syracuse area, begins with three, one-day qualifiers for non-exempt players. Those qualifiers are May 19-21 at Drumlins West. About 90 qualifiers will then advance to the main event — June 3-6 — joining about 50 exempt players (the 32 who completed last year’s event, past champions and top finishers in the Syracuse District’s other majors). This year, the P-S Am will begin at Liverpool and progress to LaFayette Hills, Turning Stone Resort’s difficult Kaluhyat course and Drumlins East on successive days. The field will be cut to the top 64 players and ties after the first round and top 32 and ties after day two. The survivors will be eligible for the final two rounds. To enter, print out application forms at . Entries, which cost $80, must be mailed to the Central New York PGA at CNY PGA, 800 Nottingham Road, Syracuse, NY 13224. Application forms for the Post-Standard’s Women’s Amateur (July 13, 14) and Senior Amateur (Aug. 10-11) also can be found at the above Web site. For more information, contact the CNY PGA and executive director Chuck Harty at 446-5610.
