Deeta Dressup Night Branded Tacky 2009: Deeta Dressup

Deeta dressup night branded tacky

Deeta dress-up night branded ‘tacky’ GEELONG mayor John Mitchell says he will dress up as the city’s most famous street-person for a controversial charity
bash but the Catholic church describes the gig as a tacky stunt. And the Salvation Army, which will receive the money raised, is in favour of the event to generate funds but has condemned the “Deeta” costume theme. Geelong West bar Cloud 9 has started promoting its fundraiser in which patrons are asked to dress as popular nomad dubbed Deeta and is offering prizes for best-dressed. Cloud 9 owner Gorge Camorra yesterday challenged critics to find another way to raise money and, if so, said he would cancel the event. Cr Mitchell said if somebody would pay him enough money to dress up as Deeta, with the money going to the cause, he would have no hesitation to take part. “If we can raise some money and it’s a worthwhile cause, I’m more than happy to do most things,” Cr Mitchell said.
“If someone comes along dressed up and they are raising money, I don’t see anything wrong with that.”
