Dog Lovers Unite For Second Annual Charity Dog Show 2009: Dog Show

Dog lovers unite for second annual charity dog show

The West End Dog Show was held Saturday, August 22 in support of the BC Guide Dog Services.
(WestEndDogShow.com) Last year’s event raised more than $6,000 for guide dog training. (WestEndDogShow.com) Demonstrations on dental hygeine, nail clipping and massage for dogs were on display at the second annual dog show. (WestEndDogShow.com) Vancouver’s Nelson Park was a sea of wagging tails Saturday afternoon, as the annual West End Dog Show charity event drew dog lovers from across the downtown core. Organizers estimate around 1,000 dog owners, many with four-legged companions in tow, visited the benefit to visit the various display tables and participate in a pawful of free events. “It’s kind of a farmers market, but for dogs,” organizers Jason Lamarche told ctvbc.ca. Events include a dog fashion show, a charity dog wash, dog and owner look-alike contests as well as demonstrations on dental hygiene, nail clipping, and massage technique for dogs.
Proceeds benefit the BC Guide Dog Services, a charity set up to train seeing-eye dogs for the visually challenged. Registered in 1996, the organization is British Columbia’s first formal guide dog school.
