Dog owners set to descend on Cannock Chase Forest for weekend event

Get involved Hundreds of dog owners from across Staffordshire and their four-legged friends will descend on a fun-packed activity day near Rugeley on Saturday
week. Crowds are expected to attend the annual Dog Activity Day on the Forestry Commission estate at Cannock Chase Forest. South Staffordshire Dog Display Team and the Staffs Agility School will perform displays from 11am until 4pm and will also let people and their dogs have a go at agility tasks.. Also on show will be the amazing dog hurdle relay race, Flyball, and the Heelwork to Music dog agility display. Visitors are invited to enter themselves in a Fun Pet Show, where owners and their dogs can take part in a Best Young Handler and Best Lookalike (owner and dog)’ contest. There will also be a children’s poster competition, where youngsters (4-10 and 10-16) are invited to design posters advertising the do’s and don’ts of dog handling on Cannock Chase. Sara Green, Project Officer, Community Involvement Programme for Cannock Chase AONB, said: “Our canine fun day is a fantastic opportunity for dogs and owners to come and have fun. We have lots of displays, competitions and events as well as plenty of educational advice about walking your dog on Cannock Chase.”
The K9 Club will hold a problems corner for those having trouble training their dogs, and Donnachie and Townley Vets will be holding workshops on healthy dogs.
