Drew Barrymore, Hollywood Actress and World Food Programme Ambassador, has donated $1million of her own money, which will support thousands of schoolchildren in Kenya.
The donation was announced during an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show, and is part of the WFP’s $3billion ‘Fill the Cup’ campaign which aims to feed 59 million hungry schoolchildren in developing countries for a year.
The WFP is a branch of the United Nations, and provides food to an average 90 million people per year, it is headquartered in Rome and has offices in over 80 countries.
Drew Barrymore is currently the eighth highest paid actress in Hollywood, earning $10million a movie her $1million donation will go a long way since it only takes $50 to feed a Kenya child for one year.
