Drivers test runs benefit charity

The Post-Crescent • August 20, 2009 GRAND CHUTE — Doing something for a good cause and having fun at the same time is a
combination that can’t fail. On Friday and Saturday, Bergstrom Automotive will host the Drive for the Cure to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. The event will be held at Bergstrom on Victory Lane, 3023 Victory Lane, from 9 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. both days. The program, initially an event of BMW, was discontinued by the automaker but John Bergstrom, chairman and CEO of Bergstrom Automotive, wanted to keep it going. “We decided to do it on our own because we believe it’s a cause we should get behind,” Bergstrom said. “So many women are affected by breast cancer and a lot of people are enthusiastic to raise money to help find a cure.” A fleet of 100 vehicles provided by Bergstrom Automotive will include models from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Volvo, Land Rover, Acura, Audi, Porsche and others. The program is simple. Participants, who must be at least 21, sign up to test drive a car. For each mile driven, Bergstrom Automotive will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Bergstrom hopes at attract least 1,000 participants.
