For these individuals, every day can be a struggle as they try to navigate a world that is often confusing and overwhelming. They face significant challenges in areas such as education, employment, and social interaction, which can lead to feelings of isolation and frustration. But despite the obstacles they face, people with intellectual disabilities are incredibly resilient and determined. They deserve our empathy, understanding, and support as they work to overcome the barriers that stand in their way.
Fortunately, there are events like Dusun Charity Run 2023, which is aimed at raising funds and awareness for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This highly anticipated event promises to be a memorable experience for participants, supporters, and beneficiaries alike.
DCR ’23 is envisioned by Villamas Metacity, an integrated transit oriented developer based in Seri Kembangan as an inclusive and healthy community cantered event.
With a tagline “Come be happy & get healthy for charity”, the event aim to raise awareness of Malaysian who suffer from intellectual disability.
Toward this end, the most important objective is to raise funds for twenty-two Malaysian athletes from Special Olympics Malaysia who will represent the country to compete at the Special Olympics World Games this coming June 2023 in Berlin, Germany. These global games will bring together people from across the world to celebrate and promote inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through sports.
United Voice, a self advocacy society based in PJ for persons with learning disabilities is the other beneficiaries. They have continue to bring out many inherent talents through their life changing employability & empowerment programme since 2005.
