FESTIVAL fans have been warned to avoid ticket touts after prized passes for the North’s flagship charity extravaganza went up for sale on eBay.
Tickets for this year’s Evolution Festival &mdash held in Newcastle and Gateshead and featuring rapper Dizzee Rascal &mdash went up for sale on the internet auctioneers at more than double face value, within hours after going on sale. It’s the second time touts have hijacked the event. Last year tickets were offered online for up to three times their value. The new tickets went on sale last Thursday. Acts include Dizzee Rascal, The Wombats and newcomers like Ladyhawke and Florence and the Machine. Last night, organisers warned festival goers not to be caught out and stated that there are still plenty of tickets available. Festival Director Jim Mawdsley, said: “We would urge people not to buy tickets from secondary sources, including eBay. There’s no guarantee promises made will be honoured.”
Evolution 09 will help raise much needed funds for Northumbrian Water’s adopted international charity WaterAid, the official charity of the event for the fourth year running.
