Enrys Gentle Ammer For Ali 2009: Famous Warriors

Enrys gentle ammer for Ali

When these two famous warriors first met in 1963, ‘Enry’s ‘Ammer put the upstart Cassius Clay on the seat of his pants.
But Sir Henry Cooper, 74, and Muhammad Ali, 67, were reunited yesterday and displayed a moving show of mutual respect. The ring legends went on a lap of honour in an open-top Range Rover at an equestrian event at Windsor Castle. Thousands of fans gave them a rousing standing ovation as Sir Henry kept up a running commentary for Ali. In their famous 1963 Wembley clash, Sir Henry floored Ali in the fourth round. But trainer Angelo Dundee bought extra time for Ali by splitting his glove – before he KO’d Sir Henry in the fifth. Ali, dubbed The Greatest, is in the UK on a charity fund-raising tour.
