Thomas Maguire is doing 100k on the day of the Enniskillen 10K. The plan is for him to do his last 10K with all the other runners after he gives starters orders at 2pm.
I think the Fermanagh competition might be worth an article in the sports section in the leadup, close to the race as these two athletes are winning prizes elsewhere. Tommy’s tel no is 028 66329856 .
The prize fund this year is £3000. We are going to give out more spot prizes this year than before. In previous years it was just elite athletes who took away prizes on the day, this year there is a chance for everyone including walkers.
We do not know yet if last year’s winner Owen Gahan is returning to defend his title and beat last year’s winning time of 32 mins 45secs
Last year there were a thousand participants in the Enniskillen 10k. This year the numbers of participants in running events across the country are up, so the organisers of the Enniskillen 10k are expecting to have over a thousand taking part.
As in previous years it is also expected that many people will walk some, or all, of the course. It is estimated that approximately half the participants did this last year. Walkers add to the atmosphere, increase their fitness and have also raised vast quantities of money for charity in the past so are a very welcome part of the event.
