Fashion show to raise funds for youth emergency shelter

Victoria’s Attic will hold a charity fashion show at Maddhatters Liquid Lounge and Crazy Cuisine to do a bit of showing off for a
good cause and little bit of fun Sunday. Tickets are $100 per person, which includes dinner, dessert, wine, the show itself and a $50 charitable receipt. The funds raised through this event will go to the Sunrise House youth emergency shelter which serves homeless youth between the ages of 12 and 17. “You would spend that money, I think, if you went out to supper with friends,†said Lylie Park, manager at Victoria’s Attic. “It’s just an exciting night. It’s a really good cause and something that we enjoy doing. If we can raise some money for Sunrise House doing it, then that’s fantastic,†said Shawna Woodland, assistant manager at Victoria’s Attic. “A lot of us here (at Victoria’s Attic) are mothers, and we hate to see kids on the streets,†said Park. Last year, the event raised about $14,000. This year, the goal is $25,000. Park feels this is an achievable goal – attributing success to the generosity of the community, as well as the apparent popularity of the event.
“Last year with the fashion show, we actually heard from people that it wasn’t long enough. We were trying to keep it short, because we didn’t want it to be about us – we wanted it to be about Sunrise House,†said Park.
