Friends Tee Off Charity Memorial 2009: Friends Young

Friends tee off charity memorial

FRIENDS of three young men, who lost their lives in a tragic road accident earlier this year, are organising a charity golf tournament in
their memory. The lads had been in the same year at Perth Academy and remained good friends when they left school &ndash Alan lived in Blairgowrie, David in Perth and Gregor Crocker worked in his family’s diamond drilling business near Livingston. Two passengers who survived the smash were Neil Gardiner and Bryan Scott, who is one of the three co-organisers of the Alan Brown, David Menzies and Gregor Crocker Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, July 24. Bryan, with friends Tommy Purdie and Jamie Anton, decided that a golf tournament for charity was a fitting way to remember Alan, Dave and Gregor, who were all keen sportsmen. They played football for local clubs and were keen golfers, frequently playing on the Lynedoch Golf Course at Murrayshall House Hotel near Scone, the venue for the memorial tournament. The organisers pledge that all money raised will go to the charity &ndash and they’re aiming to hand over a whopping &pound10,000. And the charity auction is likely to give the fund-raising a huge boost, with a Manchester United top signed by star attacker Cristiano Ronaldo topping an impressive array of lots.
“The response from everybody to this memorial day has been really positive so far,” said Tommy. “It’s going to take a big effort by all our friends and families to make the day a success.
