11:02am Saturday 29th August 2009 REVIVE and thrive could be the motto of a competition which has flared again on the York golfing calendar. After an absence of several years, the York Junior Golf League was re-established this season thanks to the enterprise and endeavour of Richard Brown, the Malton & Norton Golf Club representative on the executive of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs. Brown, who is also the northern development officer for the English Golf Union, was keen for the league to be restored to provide another shot of competitive golf for the area’s youngsters.
The conclusion of the league was reached at Pike Hills Golf Club, which hosted the play-off finals featuring upcoming players from Fulford GC, Kirkbymoorside, Sandburn Hall and Scarthingwell.
