A NUMBER of fundraising events will take place over the coming weeks to raise funds for tot Gretta Kieran-Cullen so that she will have

a chance of sight when she’s older. Maria Kieran and her husband Thomas want to bring six-month-old Gretta, who suffers from the rare brain condition septo-optic dysplasia (SOD), to Asia for groundbreaking stem cell treatment. SOD also affects the tot’s optic nerve, causing bilateral optic nerve hypoplasia, a condition which could leave Gretta blind. The event will take place between 10am and 6pm. On Friday, February 27th, there will be a table quiz in the Market Bar and everyone is welcome to attend for this battle of wits. The cost is € 20 per table and there will be a raffle and spot prizes on the night. The quiz starts at 8pm. There’ll be some pain in store on Sunday, March 1st, with a charity waxing party. The event will take place in Gleeson’s Bar in Narrow West Street and music will be provided by Chris Mooney.
On Thursday, March 5th an indoor charity marathon has been organised. There’s no need to worry about the rain as the event takes place in the Westgate Fitness and Leisure Centre in the Boyne Business Park and you can take part for ten minutes or two hours, the choice is up to you.
