Progressive Golfers Raise Over $120,000 for Alzheimers Auckland Over 300 keen golfers took part in a charity golf tournament at the Titirangi Golf Club
last Friday and raised over $120,000 for Alzheimers Auckland – a new fundraising record for the annual charity event! Golfers consisting of Progressive suppliers and its staff managed to play 6 holes in the morning, before a torrential downpour and continuous rain brought play to a halt. The second round planned for the afternoon was also cancelled. Despite the wet weather, spirits were high and upbeat as players still enjoyed themselves at what has become one of the biggest one-day charity golf events in New Zealand. Sue Brewster, Alzheimers Auckland General Manager said that she was delighted with the result. “We’re absolutely thrilled with the amount raised this year. It’s a fantastic achievement and will go a long way in helping us with critical expansion of services to people with dementia and their carers, families and whanau. Thank-you to everyone who took part and still supported the event despite the atrocious weather on the day!” Jacques Losken, Merchandise Manager at Progressive said, “This event is something our staff and suppliers look forward to every year and we’re ecstatic to have been able to raise $120,000 for Alzheimers this year. This event forms an important part in our ongoing charitable activities.” Progressive operates Countdown, Woolworths and Foodtown supermarkets nationwide.
