Golfers Tee Off To Help Hospice 2009: Debut Fundraiser

Golfers tee off to help hospice

A DEBUT fundraiser at Ashby Decoy golf course is set to raise £2,000 for Scunthorpe’s Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Managers at the Burringham Road venue decided to support the popular local charity this year and about 200 golfers played a round in the charity tournament. The club has supported other charities in the past, raising thousands of pounds for good causes including MacMillan nurses. And it was supported in this weekend’s charity drive by enthusiastic competitors and donated tournament prizes from local firms. Player John Lockwood, 60, said: “We have been playing together for quite a number of years. “It’s a good cause and the cause is the main issue today. “Through the years we have all known someone to have a reason to want to help today.”
Tony Reeve, vice-chairman of the Scunthorpe supporters group of the Lindsey Lodge Hospice said the golf tournament was proving a big success.
