THE first Grastonbury festival saw music fans come from miles around to soak up the sunshine and some fresh new tunes.
As reported, the event is the first of its kind in the area. It is hoped the bash, which was organised by pub proprietors Brian and Brenda McFarlane, may become an annual occasion. Festival-goers were treated to sets by a string of local acts, including Scotty Rob, Chris Hunt, The Flying Squad, L-Mo, The Huskies and headliners The Ram Raid. The event was held in aid of St Andrew’s Hospice, where pub patron Alison Carlisle works as chief executive. Speaking at the festival, she said: “It’s a lovely boost for the hospice, but it’s also nice for the village. “It’s a such a beautiful setting and, by getting all these bands together, they’ve done a really good job.”
Brian said: “We’ve organised it in aid of the hospice because they are in dire need of our help.
