Cystic Fibrosis Victoria Great Strides Walkathon.
Cystic Fibrosis Victoria is holding their annual Great Strides Walkathon on Sunday 19 October 2008. Set in picturesque Princess Park, Carlton, the walk is one of the main fundraising events for Cystic Fibrosis Victoria for the year. Registration begins at 9am on the day, with the walk running from 10am 2pm.
Celebrity appearances, sausage sizzles, music, entertainment and post event massages are all part of the days festivities. Prizes are given to all entrants with three different events on offer the 3km walk, 6 km walk or 6km run, catering to all capabilities.
A new prize category added this year, the wackiest and snappiest dressed will receive special prizes as will the run and walk winners.
In Australia a baby is born every four days with Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a degenerative condition which affects many of the bodys organs and systems including the respiratory system, digestive system, sweat glands and reproductive system.
Cystic Fibrosis Victoria is a health and medical support service organisation working on all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis across Victoria including community awareness, support services and programs for those living with cystic fibrosis.
