A rose bush has been planted and plaque unveiled in the memory of a teenager who was stabbed to death in Birmingham while sunbathing
eight years ago. Rosie Ross, 16, from Aldridge, died after a random attack by a schizophrenic man in Centenary Square. The bush and flower garden were planted at Birmingham City Hospital where staff tried to save her on 12 May, 2001. The plaque was unveiled by Rosie’s parents, Karen and Sean, who have set up a charity in her memory. Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust has said her death had a big impact on staff. A trust spokeswoman said Rosie underwent five hours of emergency surgery after the attack. “Unfortunately the injury she sustained was too severe and she died whilst in theatre,” she said.
