The donations were presented by HSBC staff at Pusat Ehsan in Bengkurong.
The staff members of HSBC came from various departments and every one of them was awarded with the title “HSBC Brunei’s Local Heroes 2009” for their positive and exemplary contributions to the bank. Present at the event was Mr Lim Boon Teck, HSBC Manager Corporate Sustainability. In his speech, he stated that continuous commitment to service excellence has always been a key to the sustainability and success of the bank. “The hard work and commitment displayed by these staff members on a daily basis have made them our role models at the bank. “Being the true heroes that they are, they have decided to share their awards through their contributions to Pusat Ehsan, SMARTER Brunei and Learning Ladders Society. Being able to do this makes them feel very empowered and proud that HSBC cares a great deal about the community in Brunei. We hope the donation recipients today will benefit greatly from our team’s contributions,” he said. HSBC’s Heroes programme was organised by the bank to recognise those employees who have demonstrated the character and attributes most valued in a global organisation like HSBC. For this year, the teams that were voted winners by their colleagues bagged prizes, which included the coveted opportunity to donate $1, 000 to any local charities of their choice.
The winning team was the Global Markets Department led by Ms Salyahrinah Yahya, Treasurer, HSBC Brunei who presented a $1,000 cheque to Haji Abdul Hamid bin Maruf,Head of Administration of Pusat Ehsan.
