SIMON Cowell, eat your heart out.
If Britain is looking for talent, then we need go no further than our own doorstep to discover some of the finest in the country. Eighteen months ago, the local charity PKAVS set out to showcase the best of what Perth and Kinross has to offer through a one-day, all-singing, all-dancing party on Perth’s South Inch. Now organisers of PKAVS Party in the Park, which takes place on Perth’s Lesser South Inch next Saturday (May 16) have billed it as Perth’s hottest new attraction in 2009 with a line-up that includes the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and a live polo match. The ambitious charity event will raise funds for Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS), a wide-reaching local charity providing support to the community of Perth and Kinross. The brand new community event has been organised by PKAVS staff and a team of dedicated volunteers from local business and the community. As well as raising funds, PKAVS Party in the Park aims to provide a platform for the people of Perth and Kinross to showcase their talents, products and services.
More than 50 children aged six to 18 from JGN Dance Attic will close the dance show with a high impact, funky performance. The Perth dance studio was opened by professional dancer and teacher of modern dance, Jackie Nicoll, nearly 18 months ago. Jackie signed up for PKAVS Party after reading about it in the PA.
