of Here is a round-up of just some of the events which went on in the area at the weekend: 1.
No obstacle was too big to be overcome for intrepid young fundraisers who took part in an Its a Knock Out style competition in Twyford on Saturday. The event, which took place at the recreation ground in Loddon Hall Road, was organised by charity-minded young volunteers from the village youth centre in aid of the Berkshire County Blind Society. 2. Wacky races on and off the water put smiles on faces during Saturday’s annual Hurley Regatta. A fun day organised by the police on Sunday aimed at building bridges and strengthen community spirit in Maidenhead. PCSO Jason Miller (Riverside and Belmont) said some issues had been reported recently in the North Town Moor area and hoped the day would engender respect between neighbours and bring people closer together. 4. Gardeners were given tips on how to manage their vegetable patches this summer at allotments advice sessions at Marlow Garden Centre. Staff at the centre in Pump Lane South, Little Marlow, hosted sessions across the weekend for National Allotments Week giving customers trade tips on growing veg and maintaining a fruitful plot. 5. Mutts of all shapes and sizes paraded around Kedermister Park in Langley on Saturday for a fun dog show organised by the RSPCA and Slough Borough Council. 6. Majestic birds of prey swooped and soared through the sky above Maidenhead on Saturday at a falconry display event at Braywick Park.
7. Amateur cyclists jostled for pole position during a thrilling climax to a Tour De France style race through the streets of Fifield on Sunday morning. Now in its sixth year, the event is a fixture on the south of England cycling calendar that draws some of the best two-wheeled talent in the region to the Maidenhead area.
