Vincent Fantauzzo has twice won the Peoples Choice Award at the prestigious Archibald Prize for portraiture. His latest artwork, painted on the jeans of one of Australias favourite Prime Ministers, Gough Whitlam, will be hung in good company at a free public exhibition at Sydneys Arthouse Hotel, 275 Pitt St, from July 7th-29th (Mon-Friday 11am-10pm, Saturday 5pm-11pm).
Come vote for your favourite jeans art on denims donated by celebrities including actors Orlando Bloom and Renee Zellweger, Disney teen star Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana), Piano Man Billy Joel, and sports heroes trainer Gai Waterhouse and motorbike champion Casey Stoner, among others. The art can be viewed nationally – and bids can be placed – at www.jeansforgenes.org.au
All works have been signed by celebrities and prominent Australian artists to raise funds for the Jeans for Genes Day campaign for the Childrens Medical Research Institute. Immediately following the exhibition, jeans art will be auctioned at the Jeans for Genes denim charity dinner on Thursday July 30 at Australian Jockey Club, Royal Randwick, Sydney.
