Jens To Tackle London Triathlon 2009: Thursday 14

Jens to tackle London Triathlon

Thursday, 14 May 2009 14:32 Jenson Button will prepare for what currently looks set to be his first world title run-in by returning to
the triathlon scene for the London Triathlon during Formula 1’s four-week summer break. The world championship leader has completed the three-discipline event on several occasions in recent years and has signed up to the London race on August 1 to raise money for charity and as part of his training regime ahead of the final seven races. Button will be running for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which turns dreams into reality for young people with life-threatening illnesses, and tackle a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run. “I have had the pleasure of meeting lots of kids who are supported by the charity at our tests and races,” he said. “It’s a real privilege to be involved with them. The kids are so inspirational and hopefully we can raise enough money to fulfil as many of their dreams as possible.” And as for his target, the Briton said: “I’m aiming to finish in the top 10%, so no pressure!”
Button will be joined at the event by his two race engineers, who will be competing in the half distance race.
